A Virus

Poor Ian has been suffering. He tested positve for adenovirus. He has a respiratory infection/viral pneumonia to go with it. All of his bacterial cultures came back clean but Dr T said he could still develop a secondary bacterial infection. He has been acting more playful but his behavior is erratic and he's still not wanting to eat. I even have to give him fluids by dropper because he refuses them most of the time.

Poor kid.

We are on day 8 of this.

Honestly, what's on your mind?
Ian. I hate that he's had a 104+ (sometimes 105+) fever for the last 5 days. We are trying to patiently wait for the culture results. If they're negative, he gets a diagnoses of viral pneumonia.

Aidan. Ian has a digital camera and takes pictures all the time.

Call the doctor's office, call Children's Hospital in Seattle, wait for results before doing anything else.

my heart. it aches when my children are sick

Yes. I am sure there are people who read this blog that don't like me. It hurts when that happens. Life is too short.

Dan and I went delirious in the hospital room this weekend. We laughed uncontrollably.

I've heard one person say I'm a know it all. It was hurtful.

Horrible. Ian is so sick.

Dan works for a company that until recently was a subsidiary of Avista. He still receives email from Avista regarding company releases and new information.

Here's the latest scoop. In light of all of the people who had extremely high heat and electric bills this winter, and as a former Avista customer with $400/mo winter bills, I find this saddening.

Avista Corp. reported improved first quarter earnings, citing revenue growth from higher electric and natural gas rates, as well as growth in the number of customers the utility serves.

Avista reported net income of $31 million, or 57 cents per share, compared to net income of $25.2 million, or 47 cents per share, during the first quarter of 2008. The results were released this morning.

Strawberry Lemonade

It's getting close to Strawberry season. For a few years, my grandpa has been making the best strawberry lemonade. After having a glass at Easter dinner, I remembered to ask him for the recipe. During the off season, he uses frozen strawberries (berries he's picked from his garden).

First, take 1 quart of strawberries and add 3 tablespoons of sugar. *the 3TBS is my own doing because I can't read my own handwriting.* Let macerate until strawberries are thawed, or if fresh strawberries, at least an hour.

My grandpa then pours the strawberries and juices into a processer - I however love the chunks of berries so I don't puree them.

Processed or not, pour the strawberries and their juices into a pitcher.

My grandpa uses a can of frozen lemonade and then makes it accordingly. I like Newman's Own ready made lemonade and I pour 2 quarts into the pitcher.
