The Boys

Human Calendar

I found this creepily awesome calendar widget at www.humancalendar.com - I've seen it on a couple websites here and there (and I can't remember where or I'd give some credit!). Anyway, I am going to add this to my sidebar somewhere. Just because.

Oh and btw, I am still working on a layout for this blog. I have to finish tweaking my scrap blog first!

Blogging

Yes, I am open. Ask me anything (well, almost anything). My life has always pretty much been an open book and there has never been an issue I couldn't talk about with my family. That's just how we operate. And yes, there are things I do keep private - for myself and between myself and my husband or other family members. I guess the point of this blog is that it's just my random writings. It's sort of like journaling except that someday, I'd be the person to write some kind of memoir that's really supposed to be fiction. (You know the type.)

I love who I am, I have confidence in who I am and being a SAHM, this is part of my outlet. My skin is only so thick and to be told by someone that my blog is too revealing and unguarded, that I share too much -- well then just stop reading it. I ask this nicely. I can shrug it off the first time, but when you constantly stoke the fire (over months and months) I can't help but give a response. Therefore if you keep coming back to read then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe, secretly, you like reading it. (I could put a great simile here but I'll most likely catch flack for it later and I don't have the medicine to deal with that migraine)

Frankly, I don't understand what all the fuss is about - which posts irked you? was it the pregnancy puking? the sick kids? the small pockets of life's misery that I relay with my sense of sarcasm? the posts that conveyed a real person sits at this desk? if you only knew the kinds of things I could write about, you'd see this blog is pretty tame. If I only ever wrote about Roses, Rainbows, and my Pottery Barn couch then I'd be a fake. Just as much as you might not like my posts, I equally hate your facade that screams of Ward and the Beav -

To each his own, right?

Color

Your rainbow is shaded brown.

What is says about you: You are a deep thinking person. You appreciate the roughness of nature. You feel closer to people when you understand their imperfections.

Realization

I am thankful. I am thankful for my faith. I am thankful that God has surrounded me with people who give so much love and support. Sometimes it's hard to see that light at the end of the tunnel. Going through the rough and sometimes scarring emotional times is what makes me appreciate all the good I have been blessed with. I think I previously blogged about my goals to be more positive and wholesome this year. It's really working. Another thing that helped me was transitioning into the role of stay at home mom. I am not an angry person, nor am I vindictive. I am happy, humble, empathatic, compassionate, kind, and helping. I want these qualities to always shine through. I am a forgive and forget person. A long time ago I would have held a grudge and bottle capped that anger until it festered into depression. Not these days. The last few years, as I've matured in age and become a mother, I see the world so much differently. Becoming a mom is the best thing that ever happend to me (marrying Dan is a really close second). I love being a wife but I really believe my purpose is being a mom. I never really thought it would happen. Since I was a kid I hated babysitting for people, didn't really know how to interact with little kids, vowed to never have them. Now I have Ian and Aidan and I feel so much love for them that I would do anything for them. Kids really take that selfishness out of you.

I love you boys, more than you can comprehend. I will always be the momma bear, here to protect you.
